I’m Not Crazy, Just Bipolar by Wendy K. Williamson

williamson, wendy k - i'm not crazy just bipolar (thumbs_up) So this tale of struggling with bipolar disorder may not be as intense as some other memoirs, but it is still written beautifully. You can still feel the agony of what the illness caused to the author.

Her illness brought her into bankruptcy and facilitated her into developing drug and alcohol addictions. She struggled with weight and self-image. She had difficulties maintaining jobs and relationships. She was hospitalized multiple times during manic and depressive episodes, and learned to adapt to hospital life quite well.

The happy ending to this is that she feels her handling of the illness has improved drastically. She now practices better self-care for her health; e.g. exercise, getting plenty of sleep, and taking her meds.
