The Design of Everyday Things by Donald A. Norman

norman, donald - the design of everyday things ( thumbs_side ) Yes this is a classic and still timely design book that I agree should be a required read for all professional designers, however, that doesn’t make it less difficult to get through. Even though the content of what the author shares is solid, the reading is often dry and monotonous.

Practically half the book is about the design of doors; I’m not joking. I do sometimes wish that he had allowed a summary version of this book to be published, although I think that he does list his reasoning for not doing so.

I was really excited to start on this book, but it became a chore to read quite quickly. It has great information but is not the most enjoyable.
